EDWARD MILLIMAN was an artist born in Chicago in 1907. He was a muralist, a painter, and a teacher of fine art throughout the US. He studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and in Mexico with Diego Rivera in 1935-1936. Edward Millman was the State Director of Mural Projects for the Federal Art Program, Illinois, 1935-36. He was on the Art Department Advisory Board and Instructor in fresco painting, Hull House, Chicago, 1938-39. Millman was commissioned in the Navy in 1942; Officer in Charge of the Naval Training Aids Development Center, 1944-45; and Millman was an Official Navy Combat Artist in South Pacific (Philippine Campaign and New Guinea).
He had one-man exhibitions throughout his career and is in the permanent collections of Museums around the US. Millman was an Instructor of fresco painting, Hull House, Chicago, 1939-42; Visiting Professor of Art and Artist in Residence at Clearwater Art Center, Florida, 1951; Indiana University, 1951-52; Washington University, St. Louis, fall term, 1952; Arkansas University, spring term, 1953; Cornell University, fall term 1954; Layton School of Art, spring term, 1955; Albright Art School, University of Buffalo, summer session, 1955 and 1956; Art Students League, Woodstock, N.Y., summer sessions 1950 through 1954, 1956 through 1963; Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute School of Art, 1955-56. Lectured extensively at Universities throughout the United States; Professor of Art ,School of Architecture, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, Ν.Υ., 1956-64; Artist in Residence, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, 1961-62.

Millman also exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art, New York City; Metropolitan Museum of New York; Whitney Museum, New York City; Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington D.C.; Denver, St. Louis, San Francisco and Kansas City Museums.
